Scene from the movie

A/- The case of a "gentleman" from the province of Koh Kong who hopes to become the absolute master of Cambodia after having "consumed" 100 virgins between 10 and 12, really took place in Koh Kong in 1994. This "gentleman" after having, alas ! kidnapped 4 little girls and raped and killed one of them, ended up being arrested by the Royal Police, based in Koh Kong. The crowd wanted to lynch him.

B/- Certain "Haitian voodoo" practices have taken place in Cambodia for many, many years. But, in the 1990's, it's more frequent to see jealous wives engage the services of hired assassins to "shoot bullets" into their respective husbands' concubines. I prefer to show a case of Khmer "Haitian voodoo" in this film; it has more "character" than the revolver killings which have lost all "appeal" in our country.

C/- the atrocious "gastronomy" consisting in preparing and eating human livers to make those who ate them "invulnerable" and "glorious" indeed existed in our country in past centuries, was practiced "with relish" by Lonnolian soldiers under the "Khmer Republic" (1970-1975), and is still practiced in the 1990's by certain soldiers of various aff1liations.

There is no remedy which cures such evils, which tarnish our Khmer society. To avoid them, we must take shelter with BUDDHA, DHAMMA and SANGHA.
